You Are Going to Die
A sobering way to start your Tuesday.
Fr. Larry Richard’s opens his book “Be a Man!” with a sobering statement: “You are going to die.” Who wants to think about that? Not me said everyone reading!
We go about our full and busy days hardly giving heed to tomorrow or next year, never mind 10 years, 30 years if we are to be on earth that long. Maybe in the morning or late at night we contemplate our end amidst our ever growing to do list. But probably not, especially if you’re under 40. But it’s the reality we are all going to face. Possibly today, maybe in 40 years, your time on earth will be up (and probably forgotten) and you will pass into the next life.
Approximately 8,500 people die every day in the United States which is approximately 350 deaths every hour. That’s diverse enough to assume many are not dying after a life well lived or a life long lived. It could happen to you and to me at any moment.
