Mr. Incredible Missed It
Friday night is movie night in the Tucker household. We all cozy up on the small couch with a big bowl of popcorn and blankets. For almost a year we watched Cinderella every Friday. There was a Frozen phase of course. Lion King was the movie of choice for three to four months. It seemed we would never get to watch any other movie as long as our oldest was choosing films.
A few weeks ago we had a breakthrough. It took a little convincing and a little bit of stretching the truth but I was able to convince my oldest to watch The Incredibles. All I had to do was insist that Elastigirl was a type of princess. She consented but quickly realized she didn’t “like super hero princesses”.
As an adult I have begun to appreciate many of the lessons children’s movies have, especially if they came out pre-2010. I tried explaining the lessons from Lion King to my children, something my mother used to do to us. My brothers and I could never enjoy a movie without learning a lesson. My children weren’t …
