An Expensive Lesson in Diligence

Last week, after 13 long years, I finished my Bachelors Degree.

13 years, three fields of study, five schools, and finally a degree in government from Liberty University.

How on earth does it take someone 13 years to finish an undergrad degree? Great question.

I started school in 2010 at Abilene Christian University. I studied finance and accounting there and I had a grand plan: finish school in the top 10% of my class, move to New York to attend either Columbia Law School or NYU business school, then work in whatever financial institution I could. It was a good plan, lots of ambition and high goals. My motivation was wrong and my character was terrible but at least I had a plan. I did well my freshman year. Sophomore year I did great as well but began having a hard time. By the end of my junior year, I decided to drop out. That was a dark period of my life, outside the scope of this post.

For the next two years, I worked at Cracker Barrel. What a change huh?
